Follow a gravel trail along the road, up to huntoon point then artist point for 360° views of the surrounding mountains.

Known to the indigenous lummi people as koma kulshan (meaning “great white watcher”), mt. Majestic glaciers, alpine meadows, cool blue tarns, and a plethora of rugged peaks await hikers in the mt. It's a short mile hike, but has several big rock steps which might be a challenge for weak knees. The saying goes that alpine plants grow by the inch and die by the foot. and that is obvious on the artist's ridge trail.

The trail is primarily used for hiking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Table mountain 3 miles round trip with 560 feet of elevation gain, 5,700 ft high point. Upper lodge to artist point trail is a 3.9 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near maple falls, washington that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. It was starting to get dark and avalanche danger was high so we stayed on the ski hill instead of going to the artist point trail.

Artist point is the top competitor for best viewpoint in the state. If you hike to huntoon point, please stay on the graveled trail. The views don't get much better from elsewhere, and the hike is so short that there is no need to take a shortcut on the way back. All visitors must use a toilet or pack out (not bury) human waste on this trail.

Arrived at 9am on a sunday and parking lot was half full. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. 195 trip reports for this trail,. This trail has great views of mt shuksan, but views of mt baker would be better in the morning.

Great meadow views on the wild goose trail which goes from heather meadows parking lot to artist point parking lot. The beautifully shaped mount shuksan is the star of the area, with a gorgeous summit pyramid and several impressive glaciers. The trail starts at the artist point trailhead.
