We set out to hike artist point snowshoe and made it to the parking lot at the ski area around 2. Arrived at 9am on a sunday and parking lot was half full. This relatively easy snowshoe is an excellent winter destination with a virtual guarantee of good snow coverage. The water is this gorgeous, gorgeous, lake tahoe blue. We had to hike pretty steep uphill to get to the trailhead.
We continued to huntoon point from artist point through the artist ridge trail and it made this whole hike so much better. The hike from bagley lake, going on to the chain lakes and artist point, is probably the most stunning hike i've ever taken. Shuksan and baker at roads end. There should still be snow pack off the road and parking lot.
